NRDC and EMB signed a MOA May 20, 2016

The Natural Resources Development Corporation (NRDC) and the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) in relation to the Operation of the Non-Combustion Destruction Facility for Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) last May 20, 2016.  The signing is participated by Mr. Lucio A. Quimbo, Jr. as OIC, Office of the President of NRDC and Assistant Secretary and Concurrent EMB Director Juan Miguel T. Cuna. The signing strengthens the efforts of the DENR and the national government to operate the facility located in Mariveles, Bataan and eliminate the hazardous waste technical called the Polychlorinated Biphenyl (PCB), a type of POP, generated by large electrical utilities and industries.  The initial target for the operation is 240 tons which is scheduled to start by October of this year.
